Boredom won out, and I chatted
with
Galahad just to pass the time. A few hours later we agreed to speak on
the
phone. I gave him my pager number and said he could "beep me." When he
did
page, he gave me his car phone number because he did not like to give
out his
home number either. I called him, and we spoke for an hour. It was
incredible!
It was as though this man was the other half of my soul! He spoke of his
family, politics, religion, and his feelings matched mine perfectly!
After our
hour on the phone, I went online and sent him a few GIFs of myself. He
promised to get a PIC scanned the next day and email it to me. Around
6am that
next morning he gave me his work number and asked me to call him later
that
day.
I did not want to appear anxious, so I waited until he was about to get
off
work until I called. He had a disk with GIFs on it, but I asked if he
could
drop off a photo of himself at the bar with my friends. If I liked what
I saw,
we would meet. I explained that I had dated enough "pretty boys" and if
he was
too handsome I would not go out with him. He drove to the bar after
work, I
ran out the back door and hid, and he left a sealed envelope with a nice
picture inside. On the back he had written, "See Dyann, Just Average!"
My
friends all encouraged me to call him back to the bar and I did. (He
later
confided to me that as happy as he was to get the call, he was curious
about
the reason I called him back to the bar so quickly. Did I think he was
unattractive?)
We talked and I drank until the bar
closed at 2am, then we drove around Tulsa talking until 6am. The next
night went pretty much the same way, with us meeting at my favorite bar
when he got off work and spending the entire night talking and getting
to know each other. When the third night came, I suggested he go
directly home after work and get some sleep. It was now Thursday, we
first chatted on Sunday, but I knew that I was in love with him! My
dilemma, I still had not told him about my children. After two failed
marriages and seeing the pain it caused my children, I wanted to be
certain of this man and his intentions before getting my children
involved. When we met
that afternoon, I drank 3 or 4 shots of tequila, and I told him that I
had seven children. I guess I had expected him to scream, yell, run out,
something, but he didn't even blink. I took him over to the apartment to
meet the kids, and we went upstairs. Dustin stayed over that night, we
decided to get married, and the next day he moved his things in.
A few months later we drove 24 hours straight through to Las Vegas to
get
married. We wanted the children there with us and decided to go to the
Little
White Wedding Chapel so we could get married in the drive through! :)
There in
the front of a white minivan, with all seven children looking on, we
exchanged
our vows.
It has been over three years since we promised to love, honor, and
cherish
until death us do part, and we have been blessed with two more children,
two
beautiful, precious red headed girls.
People are amazed when we tell them how we met and of our incredible
wedding,
but it worked just fine for us, all of us!
