Shana and Michael: It all
started last July. I was baby sitting my younger cousin Kristian while my
aunt was out of town for the weekend. As it was getting late I put Kristian
to bed and I began to watch TV...

I decided one day when I was feeling a
little bored, that I would go into and Australian Chat Room. I cannot
recall who contacted who or even our "nicknames".
We added each other to our messenger
service and from time to time we would chat when our time differences
allowed it. We never arranged anything. I liked David and I always
enjoyed our chats. I knew at the time he was in a relationship, but I
had only ever considered him to be an online "buddy".
One day he logged in, he was extremely upset and needed someone to talk
to, so I "listened", as I said I already liked him as a person. His
relationship had broken up.
After that we chatted each day and I sent
him e-mails just to make sure he was ok. After a few days, I suggested
that he come here for a holiday and to have a break. He said he would
try to. So I just started thinking about sorting out my spare room. At
no stage had either one of us thought there was anything between us,
other than friendship.
As the days went by and we chatted, we got to know one another a lot
more and found out more about each other. We discovered out beliefs, our
interests, our paths to the future were so similar. Our chats continued
and then we started phoning each other, these calls were sometimes over
3 hours - we just had so much in common and so much to talk about. One
day we talked for 7 hours!!!
As time went by, I thought i may have been developing feelings for
David, but there was this inner voice that was saying "this can't be
happening, as we haven't met" and yet the feelings were there. I never
mentioned this to David. Then one day on messenger, he told me he
thought he was falling in love with me. After a few days of digesting
this, I told him I felt the same way. It is 3 months today that he told
me that and we are now planning how we can be together. Neither of us is
financially well off. So we are looking at ways to firstly meet and be
together and then work out our long term plan, which is for me to move
to the US, while his daughters are young and then eventually move back
to Australia.
If anyone has suggestions on how we can raise the funds asap, please let
us know. We want to be together so much and it is frustrating that we
can't work out the financial situation to achieve this dream.
